FAQ’S

What is the Waldorf teaching method?

The Waldorf teaching method utilizes a holistic approach that focuses on integrating the whole child, meaning the head, hands, and heart. It was first developed by Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher, who opened the first school in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919.

How does a Waldorf education support the WHOLE development of a child?

We focus on the whole child, learning through observation and use of rhythm and repetition. Waldorf education seeks to nurture an attitude of lifelong learning in all students, thereby giving them the ability to mature and master their unique abilities.

What is it like being in an early education classroom?

Waldorf classrooms have a signature look and feel—emphasizing calm, beauty, natural light, and natural furnishings. Many classrooms are painted in soothing light pink colors. Natural wood furniture and wooden toys are the norm. Toys are simple, usually wooden or fabric, and many toys are hand-made.

We focus on experiential education and imaginative play in the early childhood curriculum.

Is my child/family a good candidate for a Waldorf education?

The ideal Waldorf family values simplicity, routines, and nature. Learning through natural play and consequences is the foundation of Waldorf education. Through open-ended and minimal adult-led play, their imagination is stimulated and allowed to develop. If your child seeks out play with peers and values their independence, then Waldorf might be perfect for your family!
