ABOUT

Hello! I’m Alanna Donley Gowens.

I grew up in the Lincolnville Historic District as the oldest of 6 children in a bohemian family.

I fell in love with the Waldorf teachings, spirit, and philosophy in the late 90s. I was drawn to the rhythms set for the young child, the natural toys, and how the child is guided to move freely while still setting boundaries and creating a space for them to blossom. While attending university, I was introduced to Waldorf education and fell in love with the teaching philosophy that allows the child to be a child.

Moving back to St. Augustine, there was a lack of alternative early childhood programs offered, inspiring me to develop the Lincolnville Collective. Starting a Waldorf-based morning program during the year and running a local community camp in the summer has provided an outstanding balance and introduction to Waldorf.

If not teaching, you can find me at the farmers’ market, at the beach with my family, or crafting with textiles at my childhood home.
